100 Times Washed Ghee or ‘Shata Dhauta Ghrita’
It’s time to introduce 100 Times Washed Ghee or ‘Shata Dhauta Ghrita’ to your life! ‘Shata Dhauta Ghrita’ is an ancient Ayurvedic concoction which literally translates to ghee washed a hundred times- and that is exactly how this miracle cream is made.
Traditionally, ghee is placed in a copper vessel and “washed” with distilled water repeatedly – preferably a hundred times. The ghee expands to a soufflé like consistency and works as a great moisturiser. This all-natural moisturiser is said to penetrate into all seven layers of your skin.
It’s a fascinating but time-consuming process to make Shata Dhauta Ghrita. There are some interesting DIY videos on Youtube that give you a step-by-step guide on how to make this at home. If you’re in an adventurous mood, then you can even attempt making this at home!
As for us, we tried the 100 times washed ghee painstakingly prepared by Fab Rituals. This all-natural moisturizer is non-greasy, absorbs into your skin almost instantly and does NOT leave you smelling like a bottle of ghee! The washed ghee by Fab Rituals comes in two preservative-free variants - one is the plain, traditional one and the other is a rose one (infused with rose essential oil). We tried the basic unscented variant - which is why we mostly use this at night to avoid the occasional mild whiff of ghee during the day. This would presumably not be an issue with the essential oil-infused variety that they have to offer.
This washed ghee is not just a great night moisturiser, but also a superb oil-cleanser. To use it as a cleanser, just apply it generously all over your face, leave it on for about 5-10 minutes, and then wipe it off with a hot towel - it leaves your skin glowing, hydrated and super soft!
This is the most natural way to get glowing, healthy and moisturised skin. We’ve been using this for over a month now and intend to make this our permanent go-to moisturiser!
If you haven’t tried washed ghee yet, this is good source to try it.
